Bear Country USA is a wonderful family activity and great for all ages. It is a drive through wildlife park, located off highway 16 and easy to spot from the road. The website says that it is open May to late November although we have went in the middle of November and it was closed due to snow and ice, we have been there three times and this is the only time it has been closed. The most recent time we went it was cold, windy, and wet, but we still had tons of fun. They are reasonably priced at $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for children (online prices), unlike many national parks you are guaranteed to drive right by animals, we had to stop multiple times for bears, there are TONS of bears! The bears wander where they like, you can watch them climbing up the “bear playgrounds” or splashing in the pond. As you drive through the park you will see many more animals then bears, you drive by wolves, big horn sheep, rocky mountain goats, cougars (the cougars are caged) elk, reindeer, buffalo and much more. The kids in our group were extremely excited about the bears, the nice part of the park is there are bears on all sides of the vehicle. Not that that will keep your kids from climbing all over the car to look at everything, but it does allow you to see everything whether you are the driver or passenger. Danny and I have seen most of these animals in the wild, many in Yellowstone National Park, but we have never seen an albino buffalo, we may or may not have seen one here. There was a big white something over by a house in the park, we could not tell if it was a buffalo or a giant rock. It is a good excuse for us to get back there. Bear Country USA also has a walk around park that has baby animals, this is free add on. Here there are foxes, river otters, and tons of baby bears! They have cute little picture points here (a big waterfall and bear that say Bear Country USA). There is a huge gift shop that has the souvenir pennies and many other souvenirs.
